Bale Massingham and wife + Elizabeth Stebbing, daughter, to Great Cressingham (microfilm MF/X/280/4 at NRO; this microfilm is Overseers of the Poor accounts 1769-1802 but it has some records of settlement certificates granted and certificates received at the start of the microfilm) . This means that the family could live in Great Cressingham but the parish of Watton acknowledged that they were legally settled in Watton and would be chargeable to Watton and not Great Cressingham should they require Poor Law or other assistance from the parish.
